Enhancing Student Engagement in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Assafinah: A Collaborative Approach to Active Learning

Abstract





This research aims to improve student engagement and understanding in the Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) curriculum at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Assafinah. The study focuses on the implementation of active learning strategies, fostering a collaborative and student-centered approach in the classroom. By integrating interactive methods such as group discussions, hands-on experiments, and project-based learning, the research seeks to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and better retention of knowledge among students. The research was conducted over a period of three months, involving students from grades 4 to 6. Data were collected through observations, student feedback, and pre-and post-assessment tests. The results indicate a significant improvement in both student participation and comprehension of the material. Students displayed higher motivation levels and demonstrated a deeper understanding of IPAS concepts. The study concludes that active learning techniques play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Assafinah, contributing to a more dynamic and effective learning environment.
