Abstract

This research aims to improve students' understanding of Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) at Madrasah Aliyah Safinatunnajah Salura by implementing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as a teaching model. Fiqh, as a subject that deeply influences students' understanding of Islamic laws and daily practices, requires an interactive and engaging approach to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This study adopts a qualitative research design with a focus on a classroom action research (CAR) approach. The research was conducted over two cycles, involving the 11th-grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Safinatunnajah Salura. Data were collected through observation, student feedback, and assessment tests. The results show that PBL significantly increased student engagement and comprehension of Fiqh concepts. Students demonstrated greater ability to analyze real-life scenarios, apply Islamic principles, and engage in critical discussions. Additionally, their motivation to learn and interest in the subject improved. The study concludes that Problem-Based Learning is an effective teaching strategy to enhance Fiqh education, making it more relevant and applicable to students' lives. This approach not only deepens students' knowledge but also equips them with the necessary skills to navigate everyday issues using Islamic jurisprudence.
