Abstract

This research aims to improve students' learning outcomes in Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) at MIS Nurul Ilmi by implementing the Direct Instruction model. PAI, as an essential subject in Islamic schools, focuses on instilling religious values, knowledge, and practice. However, traditional teaching methods often result in limited student engagement and understanding. The Direct Instruction model, known for its structured, teacher-led approach, was chosen to address these challenges. This study adopts a classroom action research (CAR) approach, conducted over two cycles, involving students from grades 5 and 6 at MIS Nurul Ilmi. Data were collected through observations, student assessments, and feedback from both teachers and students. The results indicate that the Direct Instruction model significantly improved student participation, comprehension, and academic performance in PAI. Students demonstrated a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings, especially in areas such as worship practices and moral values. Additionally, teacher feedback revealed that the model provided clear guidance and increased instructional efficiency. The study concludes that the Direct Instruction model is an effective teaching strategy for enhancing PAI learning outcomes at MIS Nurul Ilmi, fostering a more structured and impactful learning environment.
