Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to explore the effectiveness of the constructivist learning model in enhancing students' understanding of Fiqh at MAS Miftahul Ula. Fiqh, as a critical component of Islamic studies, involves understanding complex religious principles that guide Muslims in their daily lives. However, students often find it difficult to grasp abstract fiqh concepts through traditional methods of teaching. The constructivist approach, which emphasizes active learning, student-centered discovery, and the application of prior knowledge to new situations, is proposed as an effective alternative. By engaging students in hands-on activities, discussions, and problem-solving scenarios, constructivism encourages deeper understanding and helps students build their knowledge progressively.

The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 11th-grade students at MAS Miftahul Ula. Data was collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and tests to assess the impact of the constructivist approach on students’ understanding of Fiqh. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' interest and understanding of the subject. Students demonstrated enhanced critical thinking skills and were able to apply fiqh principles to real-life situations, indicating a deeper level of comprehension.

This study concludes that the constructivist model significantly improves students' engagement and understanding of Fiqh, making the subject more relatable and meaningful. The findings suggest that teachers should incorporate constructivist strategies in their teaching to enhance students' religious knowledge and critical thinking abilities.
