Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) investigates the implementation of the Flipped Classroom model to enhance Indonesian language skills at MI Al-Ma'ruf Denpasar. The study focuses on how this instructional approach, which shifts traditional classroom activities to out-of-class learning and vice versa, can improve students' engagement, comprehension, and performance in Bahasa Indonesia. The research was conducted in two cycles, involving planning, action, observation, and reflection to evaluate the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom model in Indonesian language education.

In the first cycle, students were given pre-class materials, such as video lessons, articles, and reading materials related to the Indonesian language. During in-class time, activities focused on discussion, problem-solving, and collaborative tasks that reinforced the pre-learned concepts. Observations revealed that students became more engaged and active in classroom discussions, and they demonstrated better comprehension of the topics covered. However, some students faced challenges in managing their learning outside of class, requiring additional guidance on how to effectively use the pre-class materials.

The second cycle involved refining the process by providing more structured guidance on how students should approach out-of-class learning. With these improvements, students showed greater confidence and independence in learning, and their language skills, especially in reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing, improved significantly. The results suggest that the Flipped Classroom model is an effective strategy for enhancing Indonesian language proficiency in elementary school students. It encourages self-directed learning and maximizes classroom interaction, making learning more meaningful and engaging.
