Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Cooperative Learning in improving Indonesian language skills among students at MTsS Al Murqoniyah. Indonesian language proficiency is crucial for students, as it serves as a medium of communication and a foundation for academic success. However, traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students actively, which can hinder the development of language skills. Cooperative Learning, a model that emphasizes collaboration and mutual support among students, offers a promising approach to addressing these challenges by fostering active participation and peer interaction.

The research employs a qualitative case study approach, focusing on Indonesian language teachers and students at MTsS Al Murqoniyah. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and assessments of student performance in various Indonesian language tasks. The study examines how the implementation of Cooperative Learning can enhance students' abilities in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the Indonesian language.

The findings indicate that Cooperative Learning significantly increases student engagement and motivation. Students were more active in discussions, more willing to collaborate with peers, and showed greater confidence in expressing their ideas in Indonesian. Moreover, the cooperative activities facilitated peer learning, allowing students to improve their language skills through mutual support. The study concludes that Cooperative Learning is an effective pedagogical approach for enhancing Indonesian language skills, as it promotes an interactive, student-centered learning environment that encourages collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.
