Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to explore the implementation of Direct Instruction in enhancing Akidah Akhlak (Faith and Morality) at MTs Bany Nawawi Gelereng. Akidah Akhlak is a crucial subject in Islamic education that focuses on shaping students' moral and spiritual values. However, challenges in engaging students and effectively delivering the material have been noted. This study seeks to identify how Direct Instruction, a teacher-centered teaching model, can improve students' understanding and internalization of Akidah Akhlak concepts.
The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a case study design at MTs Bany Nawawi Gelereng. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and student surveys. The research findings suggest that Direct Instruction is effective in improving students’ grasp of Akidah Akhlak, as it allows teachers to provide clear, structured, and repetitive explanations of complex moral and religious concepts. Furthermore, this method supports active student participation and helps clarify the moral values embedded in the Islamic teachings.
The study also reveals that students show higher levels of engagement and retention of Akidah Akhlak material when the Direct Instruction method is applied. However, the research also identifies the need for teacher training and professional development to maximize the effectiveness of this teaching strategy.
In conclusion, Direct Instruction is a promising approach to improving the teaching of Akidah Akhlak in Islamic education settings, particularly at MTs Bany Nawawi Gelereng. It provides a structured and focused method to deliver important moral and faith-based content, fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic values among students.
