Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of Cooperative Learning in improving the understanding and engagement of students in Qur'anic and Hadith studies at MI Al Furqan Basseang. The role of Qur'an and Hadith education is pivotal in shaping the students' spiritual and moral development. However, challenges such as passive learning, lack of interaction, and insufficient student engagement often hinder effective learning in this subject area. Therefore, this research focuses on how the Cooperative Learning model, which emphasizes collaboration and active participation, can enhance the learning process.

The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a classroom action research (CAR) design. Data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers, and surveys of students. The findings reveal that the implementation of Cooperative Learning significantly increased student engagement and improved their comprehension of Qur'anic and Hadith content. By working in small groups, students were able to discuss and interpret verses and Hadiths collaboratively, allowing them to better understand the meanings and context. Moreover, this approach fostered a more inclusive learning environment, where students with different abilities could contribute and learn from each other.

However, challenges related to group dynamics and the need for proper teacher facilitation were also observed. Effective teacher guidance and management of group work are crucial for ensuring that all students are actively involved and that learning objectives are achieved.

In conclusion, Cooperative Learning has proven to be an effective strategy in enhancing the understanding and engagement of students in Qur'anic and Hadith studies at MI Al Furqan Basseang. This approach not only improves academic achievement but also promotes collaboration and strengthens the character development of students.
