Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) in enhancing Indonesian language skills at MIN 1 Konawe. The Indonesian language plays a vital role in developing students' literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills. However, traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students actively, leading to lower interest and comprehension in language learning. Therefore, this study investigates how the IBL model, which encourages active student participation, questioning, and exploration, can improve both the cognitive and affective outcomes of Indonesian language education.

The study adopts a qualitative approach using Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, involving two cycles of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and surveys of students. The findings indicate that the application of IBL significantly increased students' interest and engagement in Indonesian language lessons. By allowing students to pose questions, explore topics independently, and collaborate with peers, they became more actively involved in the learning process. Additionally, students demonstrated improved understanding of Indonesian language concepts, including grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.

Despite the positive outcomes, some challenges were encountered, particularly in managing student inquiries and ensuring that all students could contribute meaningfully. The study highlights the importance of teacher facilitation in guiding student exploration and maintaining a balance between student-led learning and curriculum objectives.

In conclusion, Inquiry-Based Learning is an effective method for enhancing Indonesian language skills at MIN 1 Konawe. This approach fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and deeper understanding, contributing to a more engaging and effective language learning environment.
