Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of active learning methods in improving the understanding of Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) at RA Aisyiyah Mentawai. Fiqh is a fundamental part of Islamic education, especially for young learners, as it provides them with practical guidelines for daily life in accordance with Islamic teachings. However, traditional teaching methods often result in passive learning, which can affect students' engagement and understanding of the material. This research investigates how active learning strategies can enhance student participation, comprehension, and the application of Fiqh principles.

The research utilizes a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, conducted over two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and student surveys. The findings indicate that the use of active learning techniques, such as group discussions, role-playing, and problem-solving activities, significantly improved students' understanding of Fiqh topics. Students became more engaged in learning, showed greater interest in the material, and were able to apply the principles of Fiqh to real-life scenarios.

Moreover, the study found that active learning not only enhanced students' cognitive understanding but also helped develop their moral and social skills, such as cooperation, respect, and responsibility, which are integral to Fiqh education. However, challenges related to classroom management and the need for more teacher training in implementing active learning strategies were also identified.

In conclusion, this study demonstrates that active learning is an effective approach to improve students' understanding of Fiqh at RA Aisyiyah Mentawai. The findings suggest that this method can be adapted to enhance Islamic education, fostering both intellectual and character development in young learners.
