Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the learning of Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) at MIS Jamaluddin Lekong Rembuk through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The research focuses on enhancing students' critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and deeper understanding of Islamic studies by engaging them in real-world problems and scenarios. Problem-Based Learning encourages students to actively seek solutions to problems, collaborate with peers, and apply their knowledge to practical situations, fostering a more interactive and student-centered learning environment.

The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. During the planning phase, the teacher and researcher designed lesson plans incorporating PBL activities, where students explored PAI topics by analyzing case studies, conducting discussions, and working in groups to find solutions. The action phase involved implementing the PBL approach, with students engaging in hands-on activities to explore Islamic values and teachings. Observations were made to monitor student participation, engagement, and understanding, while reflections were carried out to assess the effectiveness of the approach and refine the learning process for the next cycle.

The results of the research indicate that PBL significantly improved students' engagement, critical thinking, and understanding of PAI. Students demonstrated greater involvement in discussions, developed their ability to solve problems related to Islamic teachings, and showed a more positive attitude toward learning. The research highlights the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning in creating an active and dynamic learning environment that enhances both cognitive and social skills in PAI education at MIS Jamaluddin Lekong Rembuk.
