Enhancing Indonesian Language Competence through Contextual Learning Model at MIS Kertahayu 1: A Classroom Action Research
Main Article Content
Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' Indonesian language proficiency at MIS Kertahayu 1 by implementing the Contextual Learning Model. The Contextual Learning Model is an innovative teaching strategy that emphasizes real-world connections and encourages students to apply their knowledge in meaningful contexts. This study was conducted to address the challenges faced by students in understanding and using the Indonesian language effectively. The research involved a group of 30 students from grade 4 who were selected as participants. Data was collected through observations, interviews, tests, and student feedback. The research followed a cyclical process consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection to ensure continuous improvement in the teaching and learning process.
The findings indicate that the implementation of the Contextual Learning Model significantly enhanced students’ engagement, understanding, and application of the Indonesian language. Students showed a better grasp of vocabulary, sentence structure, and overall communication skills. Additionally, their motivation and interest in learning increased, as the lessons were more relatable and engaging. The teacher's role shifted from being the central figure to a facilitator, guiding students in exploring language in various real-life contexts. The use of this model also fostered collaboration among students, promoting a more interactive and participatory learning environment.
This study concludes that the Contextual Learning Model is effective in improving students' Indonesian language skills and should be integrated into the curriculum at MIS Kertahayu 1. It is recommended that further research be conducted to explore the long-term effects of this model on students' language competence.
