Enhancing Islamic History and Culture Learning through Collaborative Learning Model at MA Al Muchlisin: A Classroom Action Research

Abstract





This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding and engagement in Islamic History and Culture (SKI) at MA Al Muchlisin by implementing the Collaborative Learning Model. The research focuses on enhancing student participation, critical thinking, and the ability to work together in understanding and applying historical and cultural concepts from Islamic perspectives. The study involved 30 students from grade 11, selected for their diverse academic backgrounds. Data collection was carried out through classroom observations, interviews, tests, and feedback from students and teachers. The research followed a two-cycle process consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection to ensure continuous improvement in the teaching and learning process.


The findings indicate that the Collaborative Learning Model significantly enhanced students’ engagement with the SKI subject. Through group discussions, collaborative projects, and peer learning, students were able to share insights, develop critical thinking skills, and approach the subject matter from different perspectives. Students showed an increased understanding of the material and demonstrated improved communication and teamwork skills. The teacher’s role as a facilitator allowed students to take more ownership of their learning, fostering a more interactive and dynamic classroom environment.


In conclusion, the Collaborative Learning Model proved to be an effective approach in enhancing students' understanding and engagement in Islamic History and Culture at MA Al Muchlisin. The study suggests that collaborative learning can be a valuable method to foster deeper comprehension, social skills, and critical thinking among students. It is recommended that this model be further incorporated into the curriculum to provide a more student-centered and engaging learning experience.
