Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding and engagement in Islamic History and Culture (SKI) at MTs Insan Kreasi by implementing the Cooperative Learning Model. The study focuses on enhancing student collaboration, critical thinking, and active participation in learning Islamic history and culture, which are crucial for developing a deeper understanding of Islamic heritage. The research was conducted with a group of 30 grade 9 students, chosen for their diverse academic backgrounds and learning styles. Data collection was carried out through classroom observations, student assessments, interviews, and feedback from both students and teachers. The study followed a two-cycle process consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection to allow for continuous improvement.

The findings indicate that the Cooperative Learning Model significantly enhanced students’ engagement with the SKI subject. By working in groups, students were able to share ideas, discuss historical events, and collaborate on understanding complex topics. The cooperative approach fostered a sense of responsibility and encouraged students to take an active role in their learning. Additionally, students developed better communication and teamwork skills, which contributed to a more positive classroom environment. The teacher’s role as a facilitator was crucial in guiding the students and ensuring that every group member had the opportunity to participate.

In conclusion, the study demonstrates the effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning Model in improving students' understanding of Islamic History and Culture at MTs Insan Kreasi. This approach not only enhances academic performance but also promotes collaboration, critical thinking, and social skills. It is recommended that the Cooperative Learning Model be further integrated into the curriculum to foster a more engaging and inclusive learning environment.
