Enhancing Understanding of Fiqh through Inquiry-Based Learning: A Classroom Action Research at MIS Assalam
Main Article Content
Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding of Fiqh at MIS Assalam through the implementation of the Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) model. Fiqh, the Islamic jurisprudence, is a subject that requires deep understanding, critical thinking, and the ability to apply Islamic legal principles to everyday situations. The IBL model, which encourages students to ask questions, explore answers, and actively engage in learning, is an effective way to enhance their comprehension of Fiqh and its practical applications.
The study involves students from grade 7 at MIS Assalam. Data is collected through classroom observations, student interviews, and pre- and post-assessments to measure improvements in students' knowledge and application of Fiqh principles. The research is conducted in two cycles: the first cycle introduces the IBL model by allowing students to investigate specific Fiqh topics, such as prayer, fasting, and zakat, through guided questions and group discussions. In the second cycle, the focus is on refining the approach based on the findings from the first cycle, emphasizing more hands-on activities and deeper exploration of complex legal issues.
The findings show that the IBL model significantly enhances students' engagement with the subject matter, fosters critical thinking, and improves their ability to apply Fiqh principles to real-life scenarios. Students demonstrated greater interest in learning, more active participation in discussions, and a deeper understanding of Fiqh. This research concludes that Inquiry-Based Learning is an effective approach for teaching Fiqh, encouraging students to become more active learners and better practitioners of Islamic law.
