Abstract

This research aims to explore the effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning Model in enhancing students' understanding of Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) at MI Hayatul Islamiyah. In recent years, there has been a growing need to improve students' comprehension of IPAS subjects, which combine natural sciences and social sciences. The study focuses on how the implementation of cooperative learning strategies can foster active engagement, improve academic performance, and promote teamwork among students. The research employs a classroom action research (CAR) approach, with the use of observation, tests, and student feedback as the primary methods of data collection. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection phases. The results indicated that students' understanding of IPAS concepts significantly improved through the application of cooperative learning methods. Additionally, students demonstrated greater enthusiasm and collaboration, which led to a more interactive and supportive classroom environment. This study also highlights the importance of adapting teaching strategies to create a student-centered learning environment, where students are encouraged to actively participate and support each other in learning. The research concludes that cooperative learning is an effective approach to improving the quality of education in IPAS at MI Hayatul Islamiyah, fostering not only academic success but also social skills development.
