Main Article Content
Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) focuses on improving students' understanding of Akidah Akhlak (Islamic Faith and Morality) at MI Al Fitrah through the implementation of the Direct Instruction model. Akidah Akhlak is a crucial subject in Islamic education, aimed at instilling strong moral values and a deep understanding of Islamic faith in young learners. However, many students struggle to grasp these concepts effectively using traditional teaching methods. This research seeks to explore the impact of Direct Instruction as an approach to enhance students' comprehension and internalization of Akidah Akhlak.
The research was conducted in two cycles, involving 30 students from MI Al Fitrah, aged 8-10 years. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, classroom observations, and interviews with both students and teachers. The Direct Instruction model, which emphasizes structured lessons, clear explanations, and guided practice, was implemented to deliver Akidah Akhlak content in a more engaging and understandable manner. The study focused on the effectiveness of this model in improving student engagement, knowledge retention, and application of moral teachings in daily life.
The findings of this research indicate that the Direct Instruction model significantly improved students' understanding of Akidah Akhlak, as evidenced by higher post-test scores, active participation in discussions, and better application of Islamic values. Teachers also reported that students showed increased interest and motivation in learning the subject. The results suggest that Direct Instruction can be an effective teaching strategy for complex subjects like Akidah Akhlak, helping students to internalize the material more effectively.
