Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of cooperative learning in enhancing Indonesian language proficiency among students at MI Miftahuddin. Indonesian language skills are essential for students, as they form the foundation for communication, literacy, and academic achievement. However, traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students actively in the learning process, which can hinder their language development. Cooperative learning, which emphasizes collaboration and interaction among students, has been shown to improve engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes in various subjects, including language education. This research focuses on implementing cooperative learning strategies in the Indonesian language classroom to foster better language skills.

The study follows a Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology, conducted in two cycles. Each cycle includes planning, implementing cooperative learning activities, observing student participation and progress, and reflecting on the results. Data collection includes student assessments, classroom observations, and interviews with teachers to evaluate the effectiveness of the cooperative learning approach. The research aims to assess how well students improve in reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through cooperative learning activities.

Preliminary results indicate that cooperative learning significantly enhances student engagement and language proficiency. Students have shown increased interest in Indonesian language lessons, actively participating in group discussions, and demonstrating better understanding and application of language concepts. The findings suggest that cooperative learning not only improves academic performance but also promotes teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills among students.

This study provides valuable insights for educators in MI Miftahuddin and other schools to implement cooperative learning strategies in their Indonesian language curriculum to foster a more engaging and effective learning environment.
