Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to investigate the effectiveness of Discovery Learning in enhancing the understanding of Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) among students at MIS Nurul Jadid Waiwagang. Fiqh education is crucial in developing students' knowledge and application of Islamic law, yet traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students effectively. Discovery Learning, a student-centered approach that encourages active exploration, has been proposed as a more interactive and engaging alternative. This study is designed to evaluate how Discovery Learning influences students’ understanding and interest in Fiqh topics.

The research was conducted in two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 30 students from a fifth-grade class at MIS Nurul Jadid Waiwagang. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and student assessments before and after the implementation of Discovery Learning activities. The results indicated a significant improvement in students' comprehension of Fiqh concepts, as well as their participation and enthusiasm during lessons. Students showed a greater ability to apply Fiqh principles in real-life scenarios and displayed increased critical thinking.

This study highlights the potential of Discovery Learning in fostering deeper engagement and understanding in Fiqh education. It suggests that integrating more interactive and student-centered teaching methods can improve the overall quality of religious education in Islamic schools. The findings of this research contribute to the ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance the teaching of Islamic studies, making it more relevant and engaging for students in the 21st century.
