Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve expressive language skills of Group B children through the implementation of the Role Playing method at RA BA Aisyiyah Kudu Baki, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java. The study was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The background of this research is the limited ability of children to express ideas, communicate clearly, and respond appropriately during learning activities. Role playing provides opportunities for children to express themselves through imaginative and situational play. In this research, children were invited to participate in various role-playing scenarios such as being a teacher, shopkeeper, or family member. These activities were designed to encourage spontaneous verbal expression and increase vocabulary. The results showed significant improvement in children's expressive language abilities. In the first cycle, only 52% of children reached the expected developmental level, which increased to 87% in the second cycle. Children became more confident in speaking, used more complete sentences, and were more engaged in conversations with peers.

Therefore, the role playing method is effective in developing expressive language skills in early childhood and is recommended for use in daily learning activities at TK level.
