Abstract
This study aims to explore the enhancement of cognitive abilities in children through counting activities with objects around the school at Group A of RA Tarbiyatul Mutaallimin Jadung Dungkek Sumenep. The research focuses on how hands-on counting activities can help develop children's cognitive skills, particularly in number recognition, quantity understanding, and early mathematical concepts. The study employed a qualitative approach, using observations and interviews with teachers and students. Activities such as counting the number of trees, chairs, or playground equipment were incorporated into daily routines. The results indicate that involving children in counting real objects in their immediate environment not only improves their ability to recognize and work with numbers but also enhances their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Teachers observed increased engagement and enthusiasm from the students during these activities. The study suggests that incorporating real-life counting exercises into early childhood education can significantly boost cognitive development by connecting learning to their everyday experiences. This method encourages active learning and promotes a deeper understanding of basic mathematical concepts in young children.
