Abstract
This study explores the use of Case-Based Learning (CBL) to enhance students' understanding of social issues from an Islamic perspective at SMP Negeri 4 Tanah Putih. The research was conducted as a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 28 students as participants. The main objective of this study is to examine how CBL can help students better comprehend and analyze social issues within the context of Islamic teachings, thus fostering critical thinking and moral values. The research process involved a series of cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. In each cycle, students were presented with real-life cases related to social issues, and they were encouraged to discuss and resolve these issues using Islamic principles. The results showed a significant improvement in students' ability to identify and analyze social problems from an Islamic perspective. Moreover, the students’ engagement and participation in discussions increased, leading to a deeper understanding of the material. The findings suggest that CBL can be an effective approach in teaching social issues in an Islamic educational context, fostering both academic and moral development in students.
