Abstract
This study explores the application of contextual learning methods through gardening activities to enhance cognitive and social skills in early childhood at RA Nurul Huda Bulusari Gempol Pasuruan. The research aims to determine how integrating hands-on activities like gardening into early education can foster children's understanding of nature, improve their problem-solving abilities, and promote social interaction among peers. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through observations, teacher interviews, and student assessments before and after the intervention. The results show that gardening activities significantly enhanced children's cognitive development, particularly in understanding cause-and-effect relationships and recognizing various plants and their growth processes. Additionally, the activities improved social skills, such as teamwork, communication, and empathy, as students worked together to care for the plants. The study suggests that by incorporating real-world tasks like gardening, children can connect learning to their environment and develop essential skills that will benefit their academic and social growth. This approach not only aligns with early childhood education goals but also promotes a deeper connection to nature and the community.
