Abstract

This study aims to explore the utilization of project-based learning (PBL) to enhance student interest and understanding of the concepts in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) at MIN 10 Aceh Besar. PBL is an instructional approach that encourages students to actively engage in real-world projects, fostering deeper learning and critical thinking. In this study, students were involved in various IPAS projects that required them to research, collaborate, and apply their knowledge to solve problems and present their findings. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and an analysis of students' project outcomes. The results indicate that PBL significantly improved student engagement and understanding of IPAS concepts. Students reported higher motivation and interest in the subject, as they were able to see the practical applications of the knowledge they acquired. Teachers observed that PBL not only enhanced academic performance but also developed students' collaborative and problem-solving skills. This study suggests that integrating project-based learning into IPAS lessons can be an effective strategy to increase student interest and improve their comprehension of key concepts in science and social studies.
