Abstract
Humans need education to maximize the potential bestowed by Allah SWT as a means to fulfill their role as caliphs on earth. Education is a product of civilization developed based on the nation's own outlook on life, which serves as an educational philosophy or ideal and statement of educational goals. Developing education is inseparable from learning. In the learning process, educators must have strategies so that students can learn effectively and efficiently and understand the desired goals. One step in developing a strategy is mastering presentation techniques, commonly known as teaching methods. In the implementation of the educational process, educators are the most crucial component, as the success of the learning process depends heavily on them as the spearhead. Therefore, in the teaching and learning process, educators must have strategies to ensure students learn effectively and efficiently, achieving the desired goals. One step to developing these strategies is mastering presentation techniques, commonly referred to as methods Teaching. Improving the quality of education should begin with improving educators' abilities to design learning strategies that align with the goals or competencies to be achieved, as we believe that these goals can be achieved through specific learning strategies. Efforts to improve the quality of education in schools must be through learning. Various new concepts and insights into the teaching and learning process in schools have emerged and developed alongside the rapid development of science and technology. The existence of educators remains crucial because their role cannot be completely replaced by technology. Educators in active learning position themselves more as facilitators, guides, companions, and friends in the teaching and learning process. This will certainly avoid authoritarianism and the fear of students and can also make the teaching and learning process in the classroom more democratic and enjoyable. To create meaningful learning and encourage students to play an active role during the learning process, researchers took the initiative to implement the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a learning model delivered by presenting a problem, asking questions, facilitating investigations, and opening dialogue. 7 Using this learning model is highly beneficial because it enables students to learn through structured, real-world problem-solving to build their knowledge. The application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model was deemed appropriate for teaching Islamic Religious Education (PAI) to fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 21VII Koto Sungai sariak. Therefore, in the teaching and learning process, students are required to actively investigate and solve problems, while the teacher acts as a facilitator or guide.
