Abstract
Education is a key factor in developing a quality generation, especially in today's era of globalization. Islamic religious education is a crucial part of the national curriculum, as it focuses not only on developing knowledge but also on building students' character, morals, and spirituality. A crucial aspect of Islamic religious education is Quranic recitation, which aims to enable students not only to read but also to understand and apply the contents of the Quran's holy verses in their daily lives. Surah An-Nas is a short chapter in the Quran that contains important moral messages and values, such as the importance of gratitude for God's blessings, an understanding of the virtues of humankind as the most noble of creatures, and a reminder of the rewards of the afterlife. This material is highly relevant for elementary school students, especially fourth graders, as these values can help shape their mindset, behavior, and morals from an early age. However, in reality, teaching Surah An-Nas at TK Pertiwi Pasar Baru faces various obstacles that result in students' poor understanding of its contents. Based on initial observations and evaluation results, it was found that several fourth grade students at TK Pertiwi Pasar Baru:Students are unable to understand Surah An-Nas well, students do not yet have the competence to interpret Surah An-Nas correctly and accurately, students do not yet have the communication skills to express the content of Surah An-Nas. This condition has the potential to affect students' ability to understand and apply Surah An-Nas lessons in everyday life. This problem is caused by several factors, including conventional learning methods. Teachers tend to use lectures and memorization, which makes students passive during the learning process. This monotonous approach doesn't provide students with the opportunity to actively engage, discuss, or explore the meaning of Quranic verses. Furthermore, the lack of variety in learning strategies also causes students to lose interest and motivation in studying the Quran. The Group Word technique has several advantages, such as increasing student active engagement in learning, developing critical thinking skills, and fostering effective collaboration and communication among students. With this approach, students not only learn individually but also share knowledge and opinions within a group. This is expected to improve student motivation and learning outcomes in understanding Surah An-Nas.
