Abstract

This research aims to improve children's empathetic attitudes through thematic storytelling activities at RAM NU 047 Tarbiyatul Falahiyah. Empathy is a crucial socio-emotional skill that supports children's interpersonal development and helps foster positive behavior. The study was conducted as Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles, involving children aged 4-5 years in group B. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Thematic storytelling was integrated with moral values and real-life situations to help children relate emotionally to the characters and understand others' feelings. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, with data analyzed using descriptive-qualitative methods. Results showed a significant improvement in children's empathetic attitudes, such as showing concern for peers, helping others, and expressing understanding verbally and non-verbally. Thematic storytelling proved to be an effective method for instilling empathy, as it engaged children emotionally and encouraged active listening and discussion. The findings suggest that thematic storytelling can be a powerful tool in early childhood education to nurture emotional intelligence, especially empathy, through engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
