Abstract
This classroom action research aims to improve the listening skills of Group B children through the application of storytelling using hand puppet media at RA PERSIS 16. The research was conducted in two cycles involving the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The background of this study is the observation that many children had difficulty focusing during story sessions and often failed to recall key elements of the story. This indicates a need for more interactive and engaging storytelling methods. The hand puppet was used as a visual and interactive tool to attract children’s attention and enhance their listening engagement. During each session, the teacher presented moral-based stories using colorful hand puppets, followed by question-and-answer activities and story retelling by the children. The results showed significant improvement. In the first cycle, only 40% of children showed active listening behavior. By the second cycle, this increased to 85%. Children became more attentive, responsive, and enthusiastic during storytelling sessions. In conclusion, storytelling with hand puppet media is an effective method to foster listening skills in early childhood and should be integrated regularly into language development activities in RA settings.
