Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' interest and understanding of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at MIN 2 Pulang Pisau through the use of illustrated comic media. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research focused on how the integration of comic media, with engaging visuals and storytelling, could enhance students’ enthusiasm and comprehension of historical Islamic figures and events. Data were collected through observations, pre- and post-tests, and student feedback. The findings showed a significant increase in students’ attention, motivation, and conceptual understanding of SKI material. Students became more eager to participate in learning activities and were better able to recall historical content. Illustrated comics proved to be an effective medium to simplify complex information and make it more accessible and enjoyable for elementary-level students. The results suggest that visual storytelling through comics is a powerful educational tool to promote interest in SKI and can contribute to a more meaningful and student-centered learning experience.
