Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve student engagement and learning outcomes in Bahasa Indonesia at MIS Mustaqim through the implementation of the Talking Stick active learning model. Conducted in two cycles—each comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection—this study focuses on how the Talking Stick technique, which involves passing a stick among students to encourage spontaneous participation, can foster a more dynamic and interactive classroom environment. Data were collected using observation sheets, student performance tests, and teacher interviews. The findings showed a significant increase in student activity and motivation during learning sessions. Students became more confident in expressing ideas, answering questions, and collaborating with peers. Test scores also improved noticeably from the first to the second cycle, indicating a better understanding of the material. Teachers noted a more positive classroom atmosphere and easier classroom management. These results suggest that the Talking Stick model is an effective strategy for enhancing student involvement and learning outcomes in language-based subjects. It encourages active participation, develops communication skills, and creates an enjoyable learning experience.
