Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted to improve students’ understanding and spiritual attitude toward the concept of fasting (puasa) in Islamic teachings through the application of the Role Playing method at MTs DU Ahuhu. The research was carried out in two cycles following the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The Role Playing method was chosen to provide students with experiential learning, allowing them to dramatize real-life scenarios related to fasting, such as intentions, breaking the fast, and avoiding actions that invalidate fasting. Data were collected through observation checklists, learning outcomes tests, and student attitude questionnaires. The findings revealed that students became more enthusiastic and involved in the learning process. Their comprehension of the rules, types, and values of fasting improved significantly, as did their spiritual sensitivity and empathy. Teachers also observed positive changes in classroom interaction and student discipline. The study concludes that the Role Playing method is an effective instructional strategy for fostering deeper understanding and internalization of Islamic values, especially those related to fasting, by engaging students emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
