Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to explore the application of the Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) model in enhancing students' understanding of Akidah Akhlak at MTs. Maraqitta'limat Tembeng Putik. Akidah Akhlak, which integrates Islamic faith and moral values, is a crucial subject for shaping students’ character and worldview. The purpose of this action research is to investigate how IBL can improve students’ engagement, critical thinking, and understanding of Akidah Akhlak concepts.
The research follows a cyclical action research process, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through classroom observations, student questionnaires, and teacher interviews. In the planning phase, the researcher, together with the teacher, designed inquiry-based activities that encouraged students to actively explore and question Akidah Akhlak topics. During the action phase, the model was implemented in classroom sessions, where students were guided to ask questions, investigate religious and ethical issues, and discuss findings in group settings. The observation phase focused on how students engaged with the inquiry process and how their understanding of Akidah Akhlak developed. Reflection sessions with both students and teachers helped identify the strengths and challenges of the approach.
The findings suggest that inquiry-based learning significantly increased student participation and deepened their understanding of Akidah Akhlak. Students showed more enthusiasm in discussions, demonstrated critical thinking skills, and were able to apply moral values in real-life contexts. This study indicates that inquiry-based learning is an effective pedagogical approach for enhancing both academic and moral development in religious education.
