Abstract
This classroom action research aims to improve students’ understanding of the Five Pillars of Islam (Rukun Islam) through the use of audio-visual media in Class IV of MIS Al-Asy’ari. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Initial observations indicated that students had difficulty remembering and understanding the meaning and order of the Five Pillars due to a lack of interactive and engaging learning media. To address this issue, the teacher utilized audio-visual media such as animated videos and interactive presentations that explained each pillar in a contextual and visual way. Data collection methods included observation, written assessments, and student response questionnaires. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding, motivation, and participation. Students became more enthusiastic about learning and were better able to recall and explain the meaning of each pillar. The use of visual and auditory elements helped reinforce memory and comprehension. It can be concluded that audio-visual media is an effective tool to enhance students’ understanding of Islamic religious concepts and is recommended for broader use in PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam) instruction, particularly at the elementary school level.
