Abstract
This classroom action research aims to improve students' understanding of the history of Islamic development during the Khulafaur Rasyidin period through the application of the storytelling method. The study was conducted in two cycles with students of Grade V at MIS Al Islam Ngepanrejo 1, Magelang, Central Java. The research stages included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, students showed interest in the storytelling method, but their comprehension remained limited. After refining the learning process by integrating visual aids and group activities in the second cycle, student understanding significantly improved. Students were able to remember historical figures, recount events in order, and explain moral values from the stories. The storytelling method not only enhanced students' cognitive understanding but also increased their engagement, motivation, and appreciation of Islamic history. It created an interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere while instilling important character values through historical narratives. The findings suggest that storytelling is an effective strategy for teaching Islamic Cultural History, particularly at the elementary level. Therefore, it is recommended for broader implementation in SKI learning to promote both knowledge and character development.
