Abstract
This classroom action research aims to improve students’ understanding of Jama’ and Qashar prayer through the implementation of the demonstration method in Grade V of MIS Yapist Utaurano. The research was conducted in two cycles using the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The initial findings showed that most students had difficulty understanding the procedures and conditions of Jama’ and Qashar prayers due to the abstract nature of the topic and the lack of interactive learning. To address this, the teacher applied the demonstration method by physically modeling the prayer movements and scenarios for traveling Muslims. During the second cycle, students were also invited to practice the movements in pairs and small groups. The results showed a significant improvement in student comprehension, confidence, and participation. Students were able to explain when and how to perform Jama’ and Qashar prayers and distinguish between them clearly. The demonstration method helped transform theoretical concepts into practical knowledge and made the learning process more engaging and effective. It is concluded that using demonstrations in Fiqh lessons is an effective strategy for enhancing both cognitive understanding and religious practice among elementary Islamic students.
