Abstract

Every last Wednesday of the month of Shafar, the majority of
Muslims in the archipelago perform several acts of worship which
aim to ask Allah SWT to keep them away from various calamities.
This was done because this emotion was the day of the 320.000
disaster known as Rebo Wekasan. The development of this tradition
has spread to the Muslim community, so that many Muslims try to
spare time on this day and choose to avoid various jobs that are
considered important because they are afraid of the disaster that will
occur. Traditions like this are a problem for Muslims that must be
straightened out with various understandings so that there is no
deviation from true teachings. This research aims to provide some
knowledge regarding the development of the Rebo Wekasan
tradition that occurred in the Muslim environtment, because our
knowledge is still weak regarding the importance of knowing the
history of the emergence of this tradition, so that we do not fall into
wrong understanding. This research is qualitative research using the
literature review method in the process of compiling the data. The
results of the research show that: 1) The mystery of the Rebo
Wekasan has absolutely no basis in the hadith of the Prophet
Muhammad; 2) Practice in Rebo Wekasan with the sole aim of
worshiping Allah; 3) Islamic views on Rebo Wekasan
