Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve Grade III students'
understanding of the Pillars of Islam by implementing the digital
storytelling method at SDN 004 Sungai Kubu, Kec. Kubu, Kab. Rokan
Hilir. The research was driven by the observation that students struggled
to grasp the key concepts of the Pillars of Islam through traditional
teaching methods. The study was carried out in two cycles, with each
cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The
digital storytelling method involved presenting the Pillars of Islam
through multimedia elements such as videos, animations, and audio
narration, which made the material more engaging and easier to
understand. The findings revealed that the use of digital storytelling
significantly improved students’ interest and understanding, with 85% of
students demonstrating a deeper understanding of the five pillars.
Furthermore, students were able to relate these religious concepts to their
daily lives. The study concluded that digital storytelling is an effective
method for teaching religious concepts to young learners, as it enhances
engagement, improves comprehension, and encourages active
participation
