Abstract
This study explores the implementation of Contextual Learning in improving Civics Education (PPKN) at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta Menanga. Contextual Learning focuses on connecting the learning material to real-world situations, helping students relate academic content to their everyday experiences. In the context of Civics Education, this approach encourages students to understand the values of citizenship, democracy, and national identity by applying these concepts to practical scenarios they encounter in their daily lives. The research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and surveys of students to assess the effectiveness of Contextual Learning in enhancing student engagement, understanding, and the ability to apply PPKN concepts. The findings reveal that when Civics Education is taught through Contextual Learning, students are more engaged and able to grasp complex civic concepts more easily. They show a better understanding of topics such as rights and responsibilities, democracy, and cultural diversity, and are able to discuss and apply these ideas in various real-life contexts. However, challenges such as varying levels of student motivation and limited access to resources were observed. The study emphasizes the importance of teacher facilitation and the need for adequate materials and resources to support the successful implementation of Contextual Learning. Overall, this study concludes that Contextual Learning is an effective approach for teaching Civics Education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta Menanga, fostering a deeper understanding of civics and encouraging students to become active, responsible citizens in their communities.
